Overview
The Rigger is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, inspection, and testing of wire rope and chain sling products and lifting assemblies according to customer specifications, engineering drawings, and company quality standards. This position requires the safe use of hand tools, measuring devices, and lifting equipment to produce high-quality wire rope and chain assemblies for industrial applications.
Responsibilities
- Assemble wire rope slings, chain slings, bridles, cable assemblies, and custom lifting products according to work orders and customer specification
- Measure, cut, splice, and prepare wire rope and alloy chain to required lengths.
- Install and secure fittings, hooks, master links, coupling links, grab hooks, thimbles, sleeves, and other rigging hardware
- Read and interpret work orders, assembly instructions, blueprints, engineering drawings, and product specifications. Verify assembly dimensions, configurations, load ratings, and identification tags.
- Inspect materials and completed assemblies for quality, accuracy, and compliance with company and industry standards.
- Follow occupational safety regulations rigorously by utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, harnesses, and high-visibility clothing.
- Maintain inventory of components and notify supervisors of material shortages.
- Identify and report defective materials, quality concerns, and equipment malfunctions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following 5S, OSHA, and company safety requirements.
- Assist with warehouse, material handling, inventory, and other production-related tasks as assigned.
- Perform proof-load testing and other required product testing procedures as applicable.
- Ability to work effectively in physically demanding environments while maintaining attention to detail during duties performed.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with operators and other team members efficiently.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the workday.
- Frequently lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds; heavier items may require team lifting or mechanical assistance.
- Ability to safely handle wire rope, chain, and rigging components.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining quality standards.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
