Assistant Project Manager (Heavy Civil / Infrastructure – Roadway & Bridges)

A highly respected heavy civil contractor is looking to appoint an Assistant Project Manager to join its Construction Division in the Winston-Salem / Greensboro market.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Engineer or developing APM with 2–5 years of heavy civil construction experience who has already gained exposure to significant infrastructure projects and is ready to take the next step toward becoming a Project Manager. With currently six active projects across the Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem market, consisting of both roadway and bridge construction, this will provide the successful candidate with exposure to a strong and varied project pipeline.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Project Manager with day-to-day project delivery
- Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and field operations
- Assisting with project schedules, budgets, forecasting and cost control
- Managing RFIs, submittals, change orders and project documentation
- Tracking quantities, production and project progress
- Working closely with Superintendents and field teams to resolve project issues
- Supporting procurement and subcontractor management
- Maintaining communication with owners, engineers and other project stakeholders
- Helping ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule and within budget
Ideally, as an Assistant Project Manager you will have:
- 2–5+ years of construction experience
- Experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager or similar
- Heavy civil, roadway, bridge or infrastructure experience preferred
- Exposure to larger and technically challenging projects
- Strong understanding of project controls, documentation and field operations
- Ability to work effectively with both project management and field teams
- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline preferred
