The City of Stockton Mayor's Office is seeking to fill six (6) Student Intern for the Mayor's STRIVE Program. This is a paid opportunity for emerging leaders to gain hands-on experience, build professional skills, and make a meaningful impact in the community. Fellows will work on real-world projects, participate in research, community outreach, and project planning, while receiving mentorship, leadership training, and professional development through workshops and guest speakers. The program begins with a six-week hybrid summer fellowship (30 hours per week), providing valuable experience, networking opportunities, and career preparation in a supportive and collaborative environment. This is an At-Will (unclassified/unrepresented) position. Only those applicants who best fit the needs of the City will be referred to the hiring department. Under close supervision, participates in on-the-job training; assists City departments in providing a wide variety of services; may participate in a Student Worker Program for students between the ages of 16-21; and performs related duties as assigned.
This single classification is used for temporary appointment(s) to provide job training for regularly enrolled or continuing students. The City of Stockton’s Internship Program is designed to give students an inside look at the City of Stockton’s employment opportunities and provide public sector job experience by giving interns the opportunity to work side-by-side with professional City staff. This position may also be used within the Student Worker Program to provide students between the ages of 16-21 the opportunity to gain employment experiences. Internship and Student Worker participants will vary widely based on the training assignment and the department program needs.
