The Supreme Council is currently seeking a team of energetic, self-motivated graduate and undergraduate students to serve as interns for museum tours and special events at its national headquarters in Washington, D.C. This hiring period is for the end of Summer and Fall Semester and is dependent on the applicant’s schedule for the semester
Who are we?
The Supreme Council of Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is housed in the historic and internationally recognized House of the Temple. The House of the Temple attracts visitors from all over the country and throughout the world to its libraries and museum spaces. The building houses the oldest public library in the District of Columbia and one of the largest Masonic collections in the country. The House of the Temple is recognized as one of the most significant historic structures in Washington with regards to architecture and Masonic heritage.
What are we looking for?
The position requires strong interpersonal proficiency and skills in team based settings, a good work ethic, leadership skills and capacity for conveying a positive, professional and courteous image to the public about the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
Skills include: Effective and tactful oral and written communication skills with a diverse public; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups and/or individuals; ability to adapt and maintain flexibility under a variety of circumstances (tours, special events, etc.); present an upbeat attitude and work with minimum supervision; ability to perform multiple tasks; will serve as liaison to internal and external constituencies who are attending and/or hosting events; flexibility to work various shifts during the regular tour hours according to class schedule.

Hours: 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday to Thursday. Interns can work a variety of shifts depending on their schedule. While full days are very strongly preferred, we can work to accommodate your academic schedule. Position will occasionally (very seldom) require evening and weekend hours for special events (notified well in advance). Students will normally work between 8 and 28 hours per week, but this will vary.
Interns will be paid $18.40 per hour and/or university credit (upon university approval). This number is subject to positive changes in accordance with the District of Columbia’s wage schedule.
- This position is for the late summer/Fall term (July/August Start, through December depending on the student's availability with a possibility to continue for the Spring Term ).
