As a Registered Nurse you will support donor screening activities by performing comprehensive clinical assessments, obtaining laboratory specimens, and providing education to donor candidates.
This role ensures adherence to regulatory requirements while promoting donor safety, program compliance, and high‑quality outcomes.
Primary Tasks:

Conduct thorough interviews with potential donors to assess eligibility.

Perform complete nursing physical assessments as part of the donor screening process.

Obtain, label, and manage blood and urine specimens according to infectious disease testing protocols.

Educate donors on program procedures, expectations, follow‑up requirements, and clinical processes.

Collect and verify detailed medical, social, and family history to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in accordance with internal and regulatory standards.

Collaborate with the CMO, Medical Director, Tissue Bank Director, and Geneticists regarding:

donor eligibility
-
hereditary risk factors
-
infectious disease findings
-
Communicate with donors regarding positive or abnormal test results following established protocols.

Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), FDA guidelines, and quality policies.

Foster ongoing donor relationships to ensure completion of follow‑up exams and required bloodwork.

Ensure quality assurance standards are upheld and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Additional Responsibilities

Maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Organize, clean, and restock the exam room and clinical supplies.
-
Demonstrate knowledge of infection control procedures and universal precautions.

Perform basic computer tasks, including data entry and use of Microsoft Office programs.

Support daily department operations and complete additional tasks as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have the following Education and skills:
-
Active and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
-
Minimum of 1 year of experience performing physical assessments on adults.
-
Strong understanding of nursing scope of practice and regulatory compliance requirements.

Excellent clinical judgment, communication skills, and attention to detail.
Position requires excellent client service skills. Must be comfortable discussing sensitive subject matter for education of transmission of infectious diseases. Must be comfortable doing routine head to toe assessments. Ability to use good reasoning and judgement and react calmly in situations.
Phlebotomy skills required for blood tests. Proper labeling of specimen (blood and urine) containers and assisting in tracking results. Call donors for results of tests.
