The Hartsbrook School is seeking a guitar ensemble teacher to teach in our middle school twice per week. An ideal candidate should be able to instruct beginning and experienced players within the same ensemble, crafting warm ups and selecting repertoire that meets and stretches a wide range of students. Skills to be taught in the class include playing chords, reading chord charts, executing various strumming patterns, playing scales, reading treble clef notation as it pertains to the fret board, playing melodically, and playing as an ensemble. This teacher will work with our other music teachers to produce two performances per year. As this mixed grade ensemble feeds into our high school program, it is also ideal for this candidate to thoughtfully equip guitar students to be able to readily join our high school jazz ensemble. A possibility for augmenting this position may include teaching the high school jazz ensemble class three times per week. Teaching music at Hartsbrook also provides candidates opportunities to teach private lessons or small group classes after school for additional compensation.
