Position: Daycare Teacher Assistant
Pay: $16.50 - $17.50/hour
Location: Amherst, NY
Schedule: Monday – Friday, flexible schedule (center hours are 7:30am – 5:30pm)

Assistant Teacher – Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Teacher, you’ll partner with the Lead Teacher to create a warm, safe, and engaging classroom where young children can learn, explore, and grow. In this role, you’ll support daily activities, build positive relationships with children and families, and contribute to a collaborative and supportive teaching team.
Your responsibilities include:
• Support children’s learning and development: Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing engaging daily activities using the Creative Curriculum while supporting the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs of each child.
• Help create a safe and welcoming classroom: Supervise children in accordance with NYSOCFS regulations and center policies while maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting learning environment.
• Observe and document progress: Support ongoing child assessments by recording observations and collecting photos and work samples that highlight children’s development.
• Build positive relationships: Work closely with the Lead Teacher and classroom team, communicate openly about children’s needs and development, and help foster strong, supportive relationships with families.
• Be a supportive team member: Collaborate with colleagues across classrooms, participate in staff meetings and professional development, maintain confidentiality, andstep into leadership responsibilities when the Lead Teacher is absent. Opening or closing classroom duties may be required depending on your schedule.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
o High school diploma or equivalent
o Experience working with young children in a childcare, preschool, or early childhood setting preferred
