Staff Accountant / Senior Staff Accountant
Belleair Country Club, a premier private golf, recreation, and dining club, is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable, and motivated Staff Accountant / Senior Staff Accountant to join our accounting team.
This position requires a professional who enjoys problem-solving, can manage multiple priorities, and possesses a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. The successful candidate will demonstrate accuracy, accountability, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting a fast-paced operation.
This position is full-time and 100% on-site.
The Club is open seven days a week, 364 days a year (closed Christmas Day). Occasional holiday work may be required.
$30.00 - $38.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Title and compensation will be commensurate with education, experience, and overall qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform general accounting and related duties.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.
- Investigate and resolve account discrepancies.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and supporting schedules.
- Code invoices and assist with account maintenance.
- Verify deposits and respond to banking inquiries.
- Assist external auditors by gathering schedules, supporting documentation, and account information under the direction of the CFO.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ability to identify issues, research solutions, and work independently.
- Highly proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
Education and Experience
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Three to five years of progressive accounting experience required.
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting preferred.
- Experience in a private club, hospitality, golf, or service-industry accounting environment is a plus
- Experience with JONAS Club Management software is a significant plus and will be given strong consideration.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements typical of an office environment.
