Orland Township is seeking a collaborative, detail oriented, organized, and community-focused Food Pantry Coordinator to support our mission of serving the community through the administration and operation of the Township Food Pantry and related assistance programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the Township Food Pantry, ensuring an organized, efficient, and well-stocked program.
- Develop and strengthen partnerships with local organizations and businesses, food banks, social service agencies and community agencies to support and enhance food pantry operations and resident services.
- Process food pantry applications and maintain accurate client records and data entry.
- Order food and supplies as needed and prepare grocery bags for qualified residents.
- Receive, organize, and acknowledge food and monetary donations.
- Maintain inventory records and track food gift certificates.
- Coordinate and schedule volunteers to assist with pantry operations and special projects.
- Coordinate weekly pickup and distribution of donated food items from local stores and bakeries.
- Administer seasonal assistance programs, including holiday meal programs, Easter baskets, Thanksgiving baskets, and school supply distributions.
- Prepare monthly reports for the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Township leadership.
- Attend Board meetings and provide program updates as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Administrator, Supervisor, and Board of Trustees.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; some college coursework in related field preferred.
- Minimum of two years of office or administrative experience required.
- Experience working in social services, community outreach, nonprofit organizations, or related fields preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, email, and internet-based systems.
- Knowledge of Township government and community resources is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively and compassionately with residents seeking assistance.
Hours:
- Hours are generally Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
- Occasional evenings and weekends required
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional who is passionate about community service and providing support to residents.
