Shipping & Receiving Clerk
Position Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for coordinating and executing the accurate and timely shipment and receipt of finished goods and subcontracted operations. This role ensures all materials are properly documented, packaged, transported, and routed in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving Operations
- Verify, document, and maintain records for incoming and outgoing shipments
- Compare identifying information, counts, weights, and measurements against bills of lading, invoices, purchase orders, and other records
- Determine appropriate methods of packaging and shipment using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, rates, and documentation
- Prepare items for shipment by assembling or selecting appropriate containers
- Insert items into containers using spacers, fillers, and protective padding
- Label, stamp, or attach identifying information and shipping instructions to cartons, crates, or containers
- Palletize and secure shipments using metal strapping, tape, glue, or staples
- Post shipment weights and charges and affix required postage
Receiving & Material Handling
- Unpack and inspect incoming shipments
- Reject damaged items, record shortages, and communicate with shippers to resolve discrepancies
- Route received materials to appropriate departments
- Receive and process damaged or defective goods returned to the facility
- Examine outgoing shipments to ensure compliance with specifications
- Maintain inventory of shipping and receiving supplies
Equipment Operation & Coordination
- Operate tier lift trucks or hand trucks to move, load, unload, or store materials
- Transport shipments between shipping/receiving areas, storage locations, and work areas
- May provide direction or assistance to others involved in shipping and receiving activities

- No exposure to extreme weather, radiation, explosives, or elevated work areas
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
