FirstLight Home Care of Metuchen & Clark is hiring a Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) for weekend daytime shifts with a private client in the Rahway area.
Shifts will be roughly 8 hours during the daytime, on weekends — no overnights, no split shifts, no 6 a.m. starts. We're building out our weekend team, which means regular weekend hours for the right person and first call on new weekend cases as our caseload grows.
We move fast. If you're certified and available, we can screen you, complete your background check, and get you onboarded in days, not weeks.

FirstLight Home Care of Metuchen & Clark is a locally owned, New Jersey–licensed non-medical home care agency serving families across Clark, Rahway, Linden, Carteret, Woodbridge, Colonia, Edison, and Metuchen in Union and Middlesex counties. We're part of the national FirstLight Home Care network, which has provided in-home care for nearly 20 years.
We run a caregiver-first Culture of Care. You are supported by a hands-on local owner and RN oversight — never treated as interchangeable gig labor.
What you'll do
- Provide personal care and assistance with daily activities — bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transfers
- Prepare meals and handle light housekeeping
- Provide medication reminders (no administering — this is non-medical care)
- Support safe mobility and help reduce fall risk
- Provide genuine companionship and conversation across the shift
- Note changes in condition and report them to the care team
- Clock in and out and document care in our smartphone scheduling/EVV app
What we're looking for
- Active New Jersey CHHA (Certified Homemaker–Home Health Aide) certification — required
- Confirmed weekend daytime availability for a minimum 4 hour shift
- 18 or older; legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Able to pass a background check
- Reliable transportation to and from the Rahway area — this is a car-dependent location and public transit is limited
- Dependable, punctual, and communicative — if something comes up, you tell us early
- Comfortable using a smartphone app for scheduling and care notes
Nice to have
- You live in or near Rahway, Clark, Linden, Carteret, Woodbridge, Colonia, or Elizabeth
- Prior home care or private-duty experience
- CPR / First Aid certification
- Availability to pick up occasional weekday hours as our caseload grows
Schedule & pay
- 8 hour daytime shifts, weekends — steady, predictable, no overnights
- $22.00–$24.00 per hour, based on experience and availability
- W-2 employment — taxes withheld, workers' compensation coverage, real payroll
- Additional weekend and weekday hours available as we take on new cases
