Spice Room Lead

Spice Room Lead ensures the availability, accuracy, and proper handling of ingredients required for production by verifying formulas, lot numbers, and by managing pre-batching and staging activities. The role supports production efficiency by maintaining compliance with food safety standards (including allergen control), resolving discrepancies with warehouse teams, and overseeing documentation and traceability. Additionally, the position provides leadership by training, supervising, and guiding spice room personnel.
Major Primary Duties:

Review formulas that are scheduled at kitchen area for all Main Plant production lines.

Make copies from the production schedule and handling to the spice room team.

Verify ingredients, quantities delivered from the warehouse to spice room based on daily picking list printed from the BC system.

Make sure to have all the ingredients required by formulas for pre-staging purposes.

Verify lot numbers by ingredient, compare physical lot numbers with lot numbers on the system. In case there is a difference, communicate directly and ASAP with warehouse team to make the correction.

Make copies of job cards and provide to the team/lote traceability.

Make sure all the required ingredients are on site to start the weighting process in the Spice Room.

Report Ingredients/bags/Pallets that don’t meet the requirements for use (Example: broken Bags, Expired lotes).

Follow the Allergen color code.

Prepare the Pre-batch according to the recipe/schedule.

Build containers in BC according to job cards and lote numbers.

Print Labels from BC and identified the batches.

Manage Returned spices/batches/containers from the kitchen.

Store food products not used in their designated area and maintain a clean work area.

Follow the ingredient returned process to warehouse team.

Verify that paperwork is done properly and reports.

Train and supervise new employees.

Assist in other areas as assigned by supervisor or manager.
Other Requirements (if applicable):
Directly supervises 3 employees. Carries out Lead responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies.
Education and/or Experience: Previous production lead experience in a food manufacturing environment a plus. Handle multiple projects in a fast paced and limited timeframe while remaining detailed oriented, reliable and organized. Display strong leadership abilities.
Language Skills: Excellent communication skills. Able to follow verbal instructions from manager.
Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Analytical skills and attention to minor details. Must follow all safety rules and company procedures.
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.
