Position Summary
The US-based, fully remote Collections Representative (Financial Service Representative) is responsible for working with students who are past due with their payments. The position requires the ability to ask/probe for payment while providing high quality service to our students. This representative must be professional and willing to work as a team player within a high performance, metric-driven area. The Financial Service Representative will work in a blended phone environment receiving inbound calls and handling dialer calls via auto-dialer campaigns.
The hours will be Monday-Friday 11:30am to 8:00pm EST.
The hourly rate is $17.00 per hour.
Essential Job Functions
- Collect on past due accounts via inbound/dialer campaigns
- Probe for payment/process payment or attempt to secure payment
- Use appropriate call disposition to ensure proper revenue classification
- Handle a high volume of calls via inbound/dialer campaigns
- Provide a thorough review of past due status, potential hold on account, additional fees and collection agency risk
- Update records promptly following all account interactions
- Adhere to department policies and procedures designed to measure and reward performance
- Provide feedback and suggestions to management team
- Perform other duties as business conditions warrant
- Interact with other departments as needed
- Embody and abide by the Penn Foster Group Culture Codes
- Contribute to monthly team goals
- Adhere to schedule requirements, including attendance and system adherence metrics

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Education: High School diploma or GED required
Experience: Collections or Customer Service experience preferred
Computer Skills: Strong computer skills, Microsoft outlook, demonstrated competency handling high volume of inbound and dialer calls
Other requirements: Proper phone etiquette, strong communication skills, active listening, problem solving skills, self-motivation, goal-oriented, excellent attendance record
Work Environment & Hiring Requirements
- U.S. Work Location Requirement: All employees must reside in and perform work within the United States. We do not support international remote work arrangements for this role.
- Travel Expectations: While this is a remote position, occasional travel may be required for team meetings, company events, conferences, summits, etc. Candidates must be willing and able to travel as needed.
- On-Camera Work Environment: We operate in a highly collaborative, remote, on-camera culture. Employees are expected to be on camera during meetings unless extenuating circumstances apply.
- Recorded Video Interviews: All video interviews conducted during the hiring process will be recorded to support internal hiring consistency and process improvement.
- Background Checks: Employment with Penn Foster Group is contingent upon successfully completing applicable pre-employment screening requirements, which may include verification of employment history, education, and criminal background, where permitted by law.
- Identity Verification (Form I-9): As part of our onboarding process, all hires must complete employment eligibility verification in compliance with federal law. This includes remote Form I-9 verification, which may require an in-person identity verification step with an authorized representative.
