Job Title: Paraeducator

The Champlain Valley School District (CVSD) is seeking dedicated Paraeducators to join our teams for the 2026-2027 school year. We have multiple openings across the district covering both Intensive and Non-Intensive assignments in General Education and Special Education settings. In this role, you will work closely with licensed professionals, classroom teachers, and support staff to cultivate a safe, inclusive, and growth-minded learning environment where every student can develop ultimate independence.
Primary Responsibilities
Depending on your exact school and student assignment, your daily tasks may include:
- Instructional & Strategy Support: Assisting with academic activities, managing classroom learning materials, and delivering adjusted curriculum modifications or layered support under the direction of licensed teachers.
- Fostering Independence: Actively guiding individual students or groups to problem-solve, advocate for themselves, and build the confidence needed to fully participate in school programs.
- Behavioral & Social Guidance: Utilizing consistent, positive behavior management strategies tailored to specific age profiles (ranging from Early Childhood to High School settings).
- Student Supervision: Taking a proactive leadership role in supervising students during lunch, recess, school transitions, field trips, and on school bus routes as assigned.
- Collaboration & Data Collection: Tracking and sharing vital student progress data with educational personnel while participating actively in team meetings and maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Specialized/Intensive Care (if applicable): Providing direct, intensive support in communication tools, behavioral stabilization, and necessary activities of daily living for specific learning profiles.
