Additional Information
HDI offers a competitive compensation package. Salary for this position can range from $60,000 annually to $100,000+, including incentives and bonuses, based on experience and achievement of new business and gross profit dollar goals. In addition to pay, we offer comprehensive benefits including Medical, Dental, Life, and 401(k) with a company match program. We also provide a company vehicle and cover travel expenses.

Territory of Responsibility
We are looking for an experienced professional Outside Industrial Sales Representative to develop and grow our southern Idaho (Boise) market along the I-84 corridor. This is a new territory-development role, not a hand-off of an established book of business. The successful candidate should expect to build the territory through prior experience, relationships, prospecting, and new account growth, with few, if any, existing accounts assigned at the start.
Job Description
- Meet and exceed budgeted sales and gross margin goals monthly and YTD.
- Prepare sales plans for developing accounts and targeted prospects.
- Meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Understand “The HDI Difference” and be able to successfully convey it to prospects and customers.
- Maintain constant and clear communication with Sales Manager on suggestions for process improvement and new opportunities
- Make joint sales calls with manufacturer sales reps to grow new accounts.
- Maintain a regular call schedule.
- Plan your sales calls and a winning strategy for each sales call.
- Prospect for new business and develop accounts by constantly looking for new solutions.
- Develop multiple contacts in your accounts.
- Strive to be a value-added salesperson by always looking for ways to save the customer both time and money.
- Document cost savings and report to the customer.
- Document calls using CRM system.
- Assist on contracts, bids and other large quote opportunities.
- Display consistent “can-do,” positive attitude. Strive to constantly improve.
- Be willing to help elsewhere in company, when necessary.
Qualifications
- Must have two or more years as an outside sales representative in Industrial sales with a demonstrated track record of prospecting, retention and above average growth.
- Must be comfortable building a territory with limited existing account assignments.
- Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, personable, well organized, and work well independently and with other team members.
- Proficient working with technology including, but not limited to, MS Office, email, CRM and researching online.
- Must have ability to develop prospects into key customers.
- Some college education or equivalent.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel overnight as needed.
