THE OPPORTUNITY (PLEASE READ)
RyanCo Construction is looking for an experienced Working Superintendent to lead demolition operations on a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) project in Palmdale, California.
This is not simply an equipment operator position.
This is not a foreman who waits for instructions.
This is a field leadership position responsible for safely delivering the project while maintaining production, coordinating the crew, communicating with project management, and solving problems before they become delays.
The selected candidate will be trusted to run the field operation.
Project start is pending FAA Notice to Proceed and is currently anticipated within the next 1–3 months.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
RyanCo will self-perform site demolition in support of underground utility replacement and parking lot reconstruction.
Typical work includes:
- Concrete demolition
- Asphalt demolition
- Hydraulic breaker operations
- Excavation
- Loading haul trucks
- Site logistics
- Protection of existing utilities
- Working around active utility construction
Equipment includes:
- 50–60k lb excavator with hydraulic breaker
- Mini excavator with breaker
- Skid steer
- Support equipment as required
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall field execution of the demolition work including:
- Managing daily production
- Supervising laborers and operators
- Operating heavy equipment when needed
- Reading plans and understanding demolition sequencing
- Coordinating trucking and deliveries
- Working with inspectors and project management
- Maintaining daily reports
- Tracking production
- Identifying field conflicts
- Maintaining project schedule
- Enforcing jobsite safety
- Solving problems independently
This position requires someone who can look at the work, develop a plan, execute it, and keep the project moving without constant direction.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7+ years of heavy civil or demolition experience
- Previous experience as a Superintendent, Foreman, or Lead Operator
- Extensive excavator experience
- Hydraulic breaker experience
- Ability to read civil plans
- Experience coordinating crews and equipment
- Strong understanding of demolition means and methods
- Valid Driver License
- Reliable transportation
COMPUTER SKILLS
This position requires basic computer proficiency.

- Smartphones and tablets
- Daily reports
- Digital photographs
- PDF drawings
If you struggle with computers or require assistance using basic office software, this position is probably not the right fit.
FAA SECURITY REQUIREMENTS (READ CAREFULLY)
This work is performed inside a secure Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) facility.
Employment is contingent upon successfully obtaining and maintaining FAA site access credentials.
Applicants must be able to:
- Successfully complete the FAA badging process
- Pass a federal background investigation
- Complete fingerprinting
- Meet all FAA security requirements
- Maintain eligibility for the duration of the project
The FAA's review may include criminal history, financial responsibility, tax compliance, employment history, and other factors relevant to determining eligibility for access to a secure federal facility.

COMPENSATION
- Davis-Bacon Prevailing Wage
- Weekly Pay
- Overtime as available

Pay: $95.00 - $100.00 per hour
