Huron Technology, LLC (HTL) is a producer of material handling equipment for positioning, dispensing, and application-based conveyance. We make COOL machines and are developing competencies in the emerging technology market. This means we work frequently with robotic applications.
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Team Leader to guide and develop a small team of designers and engineers. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who works on-site in Alpena, Michigan thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys mentoring others.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers, fostering professional growth and accountability.
- Allocate resources and distribute tasks based on project needs and team strengths.
- Review and approve manufacturing drawings and product designs for quality and feasibility.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to estimate project costs, timelines, and deliverables.
- Use CAD tools and Microsoft Office to develop concepts, improve products, and create documentation.
- Manage business systems for BOM analysis, inventory reviews, quoting, and job tracking.
- Facilitate “Lessons Learned” sessions and drive process improvements.
- Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure project success.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred; AutoCAD, E-Drawings, BIM 360 helpful).
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

- Mechanical engineering principles and design practices.
- Design for Manufacture (DFM) and cost-effective engineering.
- Business systems related to inventory, BOMs, and quoting.

- Translate technical concepts into actionable plans and documentation.
- Identify and resolve design and production challenges.
- Maintain high standards of quality and efficiency across engineering projects.
