Job Description
We are looking for a friendly, dependable, and hardworking Deli Clerk / Deli Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate enjoys helping customers, working in a fast-paced environment, and keeping the deli department clean, stocked, organized, and running smoothly.
Deli or food service experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellent customer service are most important.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, helpful, and professional customer service
- Assist customers with deli orders, product questions, and special requests
- Slice, weigh, package, label, and price deli products accurately
- Stock, organize, rotate, and maintain deli merchandise
- Keep back stock neat, clean, and in good order
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures
- Use deli equipment, knives, slicers, box cutters, and other tools safely
- Monitor product quality, freshness, and presentation
- Help maintain a clean and welcoming shopping environment
- Work cooperatively with team members and management
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous deli, grocery, restaurant, or food service experience preferred, but not required
- Basic knowledge of deli products is helpful
- Willingness to learn proper food handling and deli procedures
- Ability to safely handle knives, slicers, and other cutting equipment
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work well with a team
- Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position
Physical Requirements
This position may require:
- Standing and walking for extended periods, up to 8–10 hours
- Bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and climbing as needed
- Mental and physical dexterity
- Lifting and carrying heavy items
- Working in varying temperatures, including coolers and refrigerated areas
- Safely using box cutters, knives, slicers, and other deli equipment
