Cardinal Treatment Center is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and dedicated Mental Health Counselor to join our growing behavioral health team. As a Mental Health Counselor, you will provide comprehensive behavioral health services, develop individualized treatment plans, and empower clients to achieve lasting recovery and emotional well-being while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and evaluate clients’ mental health and treatment needs.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessments and evidence-based practices.
Provide individual counseling and therapeutic interventions.
Monitor client progress, update treatment plans, and document services accurately and timely in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Maintain confidential client records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, case managers, peer support specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care.
Educate clients and families on mental health, substance use disorders, coping skills, relapse prevention, and recovery resources.
Participate in treatment team meetings, case consultations, and clinical supervision as appropriate.
Stay current with best practices, clinical research, and continuing education requirements.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field (Master’s degree preferred).
Current Ohio licensure in one of the following:
o LPC
o LPCC
o LPCC-S
o LSW
o LISW
o LISW-S
Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening abilities.
Ability to establish rapport and build trusting therapeutic relationships.
Commitment to ethical practice, professionalism, and client-centered care.
Preferred:
Experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental health disorders and/or substance use disorders.
Knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma- Informed Care, and relapse prevention strategies.
