Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brake systems using OEM schematics and service manuals.
- Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, tire services, alignments, and vehicle inspections to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
- Fabricate and modify parts or components as needed using hand tools, power tools, welding, soldering, and assembly techniques to meet specific operational requirements.
- Repair heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery by troubleshooting electrical systems, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
- Operate heavy equipment safely during repairs or testing phases to ensure proper functionality post-maintenance.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, and document repair procedures to ensure compliance with safety standards and OEM specifications.
- Collaborate with team members to execute complex repairs efficiently while providing excellent customer service by explaining repairs and maintenance procedures clearly.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engine repair in dealership or industrial settings.
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, HVAC systems, and suspension components.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding, soldering, assembly, and the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers and farm machinery.
- Ability to read schematics accurately and interpret OEM manuals for precise repairs.
- Experience working with Caterpillar or similar heavy machinery brands is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance tasks.
- Physical ability for heavy lifting, climbing ladders or scaffolding, and performing manual repairs in various environments.
