Position Overview
We are a growing structural engineering firm seeking a Financial Controller to support our continued growth and long-term scalability. The Financial Controller will lead accounting, strengthen financial systems and processes, and serve as a strategic partner to company leadership.
This role is as much about leadership and team alignment as it is about technical accounting. The successful candidate will take the time to understand our current systems, people, and workflows, and then build upon that foundation to drive meaningful, sustainable improvements across the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting functions, including financial reporting, month close, payroll support, and project/job accounting
- Learn and evaluate existing accounting systems, processes, and team workflows to identify opportunities for improvement
- Build, improve, and document accounting processes and internal controls in a way that supports the team and overall business operations
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and accountable environment
- Serve as a trusted partner to leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Work closely with Operations to ensure financial and administrative processes directly support the performance and profitability of our Engineering teams
- Coordinate with external CPAs, banks, and other financial partners
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership
- Strong GAAP, Excel, and systems expertise
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
- Experience supporting a growing organization
- Engineering or construction accounting experience is a plus
