Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Custodian/Maintenance Worker to ensure our facilities remain clean, safe, and well-maintained. Must be available on Wednesday's and Saturday's. This vital role involves performing a variety of custodial and maintenance tasks to uphold high standards of sanitation, safety, and appearance across our premises. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to creating a welcoming environment for staff and visitors alike. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a clean, safe, and efficient workspace while developing valuable skills in facilities maintenance and custodial services. Salary will be established upon interview and hiring process.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal to maintain cleanliness throughout the facility
- Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, and carpet cleaners to ensure optimal floor care and sanitation standards
- Handle chemical agents safely during cleaning procedures, adhering strictly to chemical handling safety protocols
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks including painting, fixture adjustments, and equipment troubleshooting to support facility upkeep
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks using proper safe lifting practices to move furniture, supplies, or equipment as needed
- Follow safety protocols diligently during all custodial and maintenance activities to prevent accidents or injuries
- Support general facilities maintenance including plumbing checks, light bulb replacements, and ensuring emergency exits are accessible
- Some Security and locking of the buildings
Qualifications
- Proven janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or industrial settings with a strong understanding of cleaning techniques and equipment operation
- Knowledge of chemical handling safety procedures and sanitation standards
- Experience with floor care equipment such as buffers and scrubbers is preferred
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following proper lifting practices
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills for maintaining cleanliness and safety standards
- Customer service skills that promote a positive environment for staff and visitors
- Basic handyman skills including minor repairs, painting, and general facilities maintenance are advantageous
