Seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing medication management for clients receiving substance-use recovery services. You will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive mental health services to diverse patient populations. Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including mental status examinations, vital signs, and behavioral observations to inform diagnosis and treatment plans
- Prescribe medications within the scope of practice, adhering to HIPAA regulations and DEA guidelines for controlled substances
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, including case management, therapy referrals, and community resources
- Document all patient encounters accurately using an electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring compliance with medical documentation standards
- Educate patients on mental health conditions, treatment options, medication administration, and lifestyle modifications for optimal recovery
Qualifications
- Valid New Mexico licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMHNP) or equivalent advanced practice credentialing
- Proven experience working with diverse populations across settings such as outpatient clinics, hospitals, or assisted living facilities
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric medications, psychopharmacology, and diagnostic evaluation tools including ICD-10 coding standards
- Experience utilizing EMR/EHR systems like Methasoft for documentation and patient management
- Ability to perform physical examinations related to behavioral health assessments and manage acute psychiatric emergencies
- Excellent client communication skills with a focus on trauma-informed care and cultural competence
