We are seeking an Autonomy Systems Integration Test Engineer to join our Autonomy Systems Integration team in Palo Alto. This role bridges the gap between hands-on vehicle integration and robust systems test execution. You will be responsible for executing daily integration testing, troubleshooting system-level behaviors, and ensuring autonomous hardware and software function seamlessly with core vehicle subsystems. We are looking for a candidate who can hit the ground running with hands-on vehicle bring-up and testing, with the long-term career trajectory to scale into automated test design, release strategy, and systems engineering.
Daily Systems Test & Regression Execution
-
Execute and maintain daily automated and manual regression test suites on both prototype vehicles and test benches to ensure the stability of our Autonomy stack on continuous integration/nightly builds.
-
Review Merge Requests (MRs) and incoming software changes tied to nightly builds to anticipate and track potential integration impacts.
-
Conduct preliminary functional verification of autonomy software releases on test vehicles prior to hand-off to validation teams.
Root-Cause Analysis & Investigation
-
Utilize data analysis tools, diagnostic traces, and logs to accurately reproduce, isolate, and debug system failures.
-
Collaborate with software, hardware, and core development teams to root-cause issues, serving as a technical bridge between vehicle-level failures and engineering teams.
-
Support the integration of critical bugfixes for software regressions, coordinating with cross-functional teams as necessary.
Prototype Bring-Up & Instrumentation
-
Support the setup, hardware instrumentation, sensor calibration, and software configuration of new prototype vehicle platforms and upcoming feature programs.
-
Review feature-level vehicle behavior during closed-course and real-world testing to verify performance matches engineering requirements.
-
Support occasional, targeted data collection drives and mileage accumulation activities as required to meet specific engineering milestones.
Test Strategy Development and Definition
-
Partner with leadership to transition from pure test execution to helping define how the system is tested.
-
Assist in designing, documenting, and implementing detailed test plans, release-level validation strategies, and scalable test suites.
-
B.S. in an Engineering discipline, Associate degree, Technical certification (Automotive Technology, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science), or equivalent practical experience with 2–5+ years working with autonomous vehicles, ADAS, or complex embedded electronic systems.
-
Proficiency with automotive communication protocols and diagnostic tools (e.g., CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, Vector CANoe/CANalyzer, Wireshark).
-
Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills; ability to read wiring diagrams, utilize multimeters/oscilloscopes, and safely work on prototype vehicle electrical architectures.
-
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Experience with test-track driving or autonomous safety-driver training is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing environments.
- Familiarity or hands-on experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and Git workflows for tracking software branches and builds.
-
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and issue-tracking tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Experience with High-Voltage (HV) electric vehicle platforms and propulsion systems.
