Summary:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting the physician, staff and patients in a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The Medical Assistant will assist the provider, Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. Responsible for documentation of interventions, outcomes, and patient/family education. Collaborates with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to provide continuity of care. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate patient care and is accountable to the policies and procedures of the organization.

Responsibilities:
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates ability to appropriately modify approach and procedures to meet needs of age/diversity of population served for the following age groups:
- Neonate (birth – 28 days)
- Infant (29 days – less than 1 year)
- Pediatric/Child (1 year – 12 years)
- Adolescent (12 years – 18 years)
- Adult (18 years – 65 years)
- Geriatric (over 65 years)
- Incorporates cultural considerations in the provisions of care.
- Knowledge of growth and developmental stages.
- Considers life changes/effects on health beliefs and behaviors.
- Provides necessary safety measures.
- Provides information and involves family/caregiver in decision making.
2. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by Faith Health to assure that the unique nature of the patient is addressed. This includes but is not limited to the age of the patient served.
3. Collect and document patient information, including vital signs, weights, chief complaints, allergies, and medical histories, under the supervision of a licensed provider or nurse.
- Assist providers with patient care including assistance with minor procedures.
- Performing technical aspects of patient care according to established policies and procedures
- May administer medications or injections only as delegated and supervised by a licensed provider and has an active medication aide license in the state of Nebraska.
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record according to organizational standards.
- Provide patient instructions as directed by the provider, reinforcing education while recognizing that licensed staff retain responsibility for patient counseling.
- Support clinic operations by scheduling appointments, coordinating insurance authorizations, managing patient flow, and assisting with referrals as directed.
- Maintain supplies, instruments, and equipment; follow infection control standards and prepare items for sterilization or processing.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies at all times.
- Demonstrate flexibility by assisting across specialties, floating to other clinics if needed, and supporting coworkers and providers in delivering safe, efficient care.
Participate in ongoing professional development and demonstrate accountability in upholding ethical, legal, and organizational standards.

Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

Job Requirements:
The requirements listed below must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION (Minimum Requirements for Position):
GED or High School Diploma required.
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained within one full month from date of hire (Travelers-required upon hire) required.
Current Medical Assistant certification preferred.
Current Certified Medication Aide 40-hour (CMA) license from the State of Nebraska preferred.
Previous Experience Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:
Previous clinical experience preferred.
Previous healthcare experience preferred.
Skills/Knowledge Requirements:
SKILLS (If Applicable):
Language Skills – Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.
Other Certifications/Requirements:
Current, valid driver’s license issued in the state of legal residence required.
