The Mortgage Business Manager serves as a strategic and operational partner to the VP of Home Loans, supporting all facets of the mortgage department including operations, sales, marketing, secondary market activities, and business development. This role is responsible for driving departmental efficiency, supporting growth initiatives, coordinating cross‑functional projects, and ensuring the mortgage division continues to evolve into a best‑in‑class lending operation. The Mortgage Business Manager plays a central role in aligning people, processes, and priorities. This includes managing key projects, supporting onboarding and training efforts, partnering with team leaders across the department, and ensuring operational readiness for audits, reviews, and secondary market transactions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and proactive, with strong business acumen and the ability to keep complex initiatives on track.
Partner closely with the VP of Home Loans to support strategic initiatives, operational planning, and departmental execution
Coordinate and manage cross‑departmental projects to ensure milestones are met and deliverables align with organizational goals
Collaborate with team leaders across operations, sales, marketing, and servicing to maintain alignment and support departmental growth
Monitor departmental workflows and performance metrics, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and service quality
Support the development, implementation, and refinement of standardized processes, procedures, and documentation
Assist with onboarding and training of new team members, ensuring a smooth transition and consistent learning experience
Serve as a liaison between the mortgage sales team and marketing to support campaigns, communications, and business development initiatives
Provide support in secondary market activities, including preparing loan files for sale, reviewing investor requirements, and coordinating with internal stakeholders
Assist the AVP of Home Loan Operations with audit preparation, annual reviews, compliance readiness, and documentation management
Maintain strong working relationships with internal partners to ensure effective communication, timely issue resolution, and a cohesive team environment
Prepare reports, presentations, and updates for senior leadership regarding project status, departmental performance, and operational improvements
Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices, incorporating relevant updates into departmental processes and training
Exceptional time‑management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and leadership levels
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and recommend actionable improvements
Comprehensive understanding of mortgage operations, sales workflows, and regulatory requirements
Proficiency with loan origination systems (LOS), document management tools, and standard Microsoft Office applications
Ability to lead initiatives, influence without authority, and drive accountability across cross‑functional teams
High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced training or certifications in mortgage lending, project management, or business operations preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in mortgage lending, operations, or related business functions required
Minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting leadership, managing projects, or coordinating cross‑functional initiatives required
Familiarity with FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional lending guidelines
Proficiency with LOS software, electronic file systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
Some travel may be required for training or business needs
