P.R.I.E. Behavioral Health is seeking a qualified and compassionate Certified Substance Abuse Counselor to join our Addictions and Recovery Treatment Services (ARTS) team within our ASAM Level 2.5 Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) in the Richmond area.
Our PHP is designed to serve individuals with moderate to high clinical acuity who require a structured, intensive level of care that exceeds Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) services. The program provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment model including:
- Evidence-based substance use treatment
- Individual and group counseling
- Case management and care coordination
- Medication management
- Co-occurring mental health support
- Discharge and aftercare planning

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical & ASAM-Aligned Responsibilities
- Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and ASAM multidimensional assessments to determine level of care appropriateness and ongoing medical necessity for ASAM 2.5 services
- Complete intake documentation and clinical screenings necessary for admission, continued stay, and discharge
- Orient clients to program structure, rules, expectations, rights, and PHP treatment intensity
- Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, aligned with ASAM criteria and medical necessity standards
- Provide individual, group, and psychoeducational counseling services consistent with ASAM 2.5 requirements
- Facilitate structured therapeutic groups addressing substance use, relapse prevention, coping skills, emotional regulation, trauma-informed care, and co-occurring disorders
- Monitor client progress and participate in clinical team staffing, utilization reviews, and treatment plan reviews
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization support for clients experiencing acute emotional, mental, or behavioral distress
- Collaborate with medical providers, case managers, and external partners to support integrated care delivery
Case Management & Care Coordination
- Provide case management services to coordinate behavioral health, medical, legal, housing, employment, and social support resources
- Make appropriate referrals and assist clients in accessing community-based services upon discharge
- Support discharge planning and aftercare coordination to ensure continuity of care
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and collateral contacts
- Document services in accordance with ASAM, DBHDS, Medicaid, and agency standards
- Demonstrate working knowledge of agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in audits, quality assurance activities, and utilization management processes as required
Professional Collaboration
- Consult and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive, high-quality care
- Participate in clinical supervision, staff meetings, and required trainings
- Maintain ethical standards and professional boundaries at all times

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

- Addictions Counselor: 1 year (Required)

- CSAC, CSAC-S LCSW, LPC, or LSATP (or Virginia equivalent) (Required)
