Overview
The Engineering Manager provides strategic leadership and technical direction for all engineering, product development, technical support, and engineering documentation activities at Inclinator Company of America. This position is responsible for ensuring current products remain safe, code-compliant, reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective while leading the development of innovative new products and technologies.
This role requires a hands-on engineering leader with extensive electrical engineering expertise who actively contributes to product design, embedded controls, software, firmware, automation, and emerging technologies in addition to leading the engineering team.
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with the President & CEO to establish departmental strategy, priorities, and long-term engineering objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering team while fostering accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Establish quarterly priorities (Rocks), conduct Level 10 meetings, and monitor progress toward departmental goals.
- Clearly communicate expectations, assign responsibilities, and conduct annual performance evaluations.
Supporting Current Products
- Develop and maintain manufacturing drawings, bills of material, engineering documentation, and installation manuals.
- Manage engineering change requests (ECRs), product configurators, and integration with the Visual ERP system.
- Establish and maintain engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure engineering documentation supports efficient manufacturing, installation, and service operations.
New Product Development
- Lead Inclinator's Stage-Gate New Product Development (NPD) process from concept through commercialization.
- Collaborate with Sales, Production, Purchasing, Service, Dealers, Factory Direct Operations, and customers to identify product opportunities.
- Lead product design, prototype development, verification, validation, testing, and product launches.
- Develop products that improve safety, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and profitability while meeting customer expectations.
Electrical Engineering & Technology
- Serve as the Company's primary technical authority for electrical engineering and control systems.
- Lead the design and development of elevator control systems, embedded controls, firmware, software, and electronic hardware.
- Provide hands-on engineering support for software architecture, circuit board design, automation, and product enhancements.
- Review electrical designs for compliance, manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability.
- Support resolution of complex technical and field service issues.
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies that improve product marketing, performance quality, and efficiency.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable ASME A17.1, ETL, CSA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Monitor code changes and lead implementation of required product updates.
- Coordinate certification testing and maintain engineering documentation supporting regulatory compliance.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives, Standard Work, and Visual Work Instructions.
- Lead Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and support Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).
- Analyze warranty trends and customer feedback to drive permanent corrective actions and continuous product improvement.
Technical Support
- Lead the Technical Support team and provide engineering support for field issues.
- Develop and deliver technical training for dealers, factory-direct technicians, and Inclinator University participants.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Minimum five years of progressive engineering leadership experience in elevator manufacturing or a comparable electromechanical manufacturing environment
- Strong expertise in electrical engineering, embedded controls, firmware, software integration, automation, and control systems
- Experience leading New Product Development and Stage-Gate product development processes
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Standard Work, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience with ERP systems, engineering documentation systems, and project management software
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams while managing multiple complex projects
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access

Pay: $110,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
