Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough speech and language assessments to identify communication disorders and develop tailored therapy plans.
- Implement evidence-based speech-language therapy techniques for individuals with speech impairments, language delays, or swallowing difficulties.
- Deliver engaging therapy sessions via in-person or telehealth platforms, adapting approaches to meet each patient’s unique needs.
- Collaborate closely with families, caregivers, teachers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure cohesive treatment strategies and optimal patient progress.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient evaluations, progress notes, and treatment plans within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Educate patients and their families on speech-language development, strategies for improvement, and home practice exercises.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care for patients with complex needs, including those with disabilities or undergoing early intervention programs.
Experience
- Proven experience working with pediatric populations in settings such as schools or early intervention programs.
- Demonstrated expertise in pediatric speech therapy, language therapy, and working with individuals with disabilities.
- Experience conducting comprehensive speech and language evaluations using standardized assessment tools.
- Familiarity with telehealth therapy platforms and delivering remote services effectively.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to speech production and swallowing functions.
- Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated treatment plans.
- Prior work experience with geriatric patients or in medical settings involving patient care related to communication disorders is a plus.
