Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic veterinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in animal care, veterinary procedures, and client communication. This role offers an engaging opportunity to work closely with animals and support veterinarians in delivering comprehensive healthcare services. The successful applicant will demonstrate proficiency in animal handling, laboratory procedures, and veterinary terminology, contributing to a compassionate and efficient clinical environment.
Position Type:
- Full-time (M-F, 8:30am-5pm) or Part-time
- Flexible scheduling available
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with clinical examinations, diagnostic procedures, and surgical interventions, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Perform animal restraint and handling, utilizing proper techniques to ensure safety and comfort.
- Conduct laboratory tests such as blood draws, ear cytology, and other diagnostic procedures while maintaining accurate records.
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient records, treatments, and laboratory results in compliance with clinic standards.
- Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and supporting cleaning, polishing, and radiography processes.
- Operate imaging equipment such as X-ray machines to assist in diagnostics while ensuring proper safety measures are followed.
- Handle laboratory equipment and specimens accurately while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Qualifications
- Prior veterinary clinic/hospital background is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and pet grooming practices.
- Familiarity with veterinary procedures and laboratory testing methods.
- Proficiency in animal catheterization, restraint techniques, and aseptic procedures.
- Excellent animal handling skills combined with compassionate client communication abilities.
- Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely while adhering to radiation safety standards.
- Demonstrated veterinary technician or assistant experience is preferred; however, motivated entry-level candidates with relevant skills are encouraged to apply.
