Wave AVL is a design-build audio, video, and lighting integration company creating innovative AVL environments for churches, commercial spaces, entertainment, education, and sporting venues.
Wave is seeking a Lead AVL Install Technician to serve as the field leader responsible for the successful installation, commissioning, and client handoff of AVL integration projects. This individual leads installation teams, coordinates with project management and clients, and ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and according to Wave’s standards of excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Field Leadership & Project Execution
- Serve as the on-site foreman, leading installation teams of approximately 4-6+ employees and subcontractors
- Execute projects safely, efficiently, and within established budgets and timelines while maintaining Wave quality standards
- Coordinate daily activities with Project Managers to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and priorities
- Represent Wave professionally with clients, general contractors, and other trades throughout project execution
- Participate in construction meetings and communicate installation progress, concerns, and solutions
Installation & System Integration
- Oversee rack assembly, equipment installation, cable management, termination, labeling, and system integration
- Ensure all installation work complies with project drawings, schematics, manufacturer specifications, and Wave standards
- Install structured cabling including pulling, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting AVL infrastructure
- Review and markup schematic diagrams and building drawings while communicating discrepancies or field changes
- Conduct site inspections to verify proper implementation and site readiness
Commissioning & Client Support
- Commission AVL systems and verify proper operation prior to project completion
- Troubleshoot system issues independently and collaborate with Technical Support when necessary
- Provide client training on system functionality and operational best practices
- Support post-installation service needs and ensure a successful customer handoff
Documentation & Communication
- Document daily project status, field progress, and scope changes
- Communicate installation issues, delays, and change requests to Project Management in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate documentation to support project closeout and future service needs
Team Leadership
- Delegate responsibilities effectively while maintaining accountability for quality and productivity
- Mentor and develop junior installers and subcontractors through coaching and hands-on leadership
- Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites at all times
- Support additional project or team responsibilities as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Internal locus of control with the ability to proactively solve problems and take ownership of outcomes
- Minimum of three years of experience in AVL integration, low-voltage systems, or related construction trades
- Previous experience leading installation crews or supervising field teams preferred
- AVIXA CTS-I certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
- Strong understanding of construction processes, installation methods, and jobsite coordination
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to report to the Charlotte office when not traveling
- Ability to safely lift equipment and work on ladders, lifts, and construction sites as required
Location: Greater Charlotte Area (Would consider fully remote employee with 100% travel)
Job Type: Full-Time (Minimum 40 hours, with overtime opportunities)
Travel: Up to 75% of the time (100% travel if employee was fully remote)
Reports To: VP of Projects
Compensation: $30-35/hour, depending on experience
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
