Role Overview / Purpose and Scope
The Shipping Supervisor has primary responsibility for supervising and coordinating with all departments and sales to schedule the shipping and loading of trucks on the assigned shift. This role oversees or performs administrative duties related to preparing paperwork for accurate order billing and inventory records. The Shipping Supervisor ensures procedures are followed to achieve high productivity in the most cost-efficient manner possible while maintaining customer specifications, food safety requirements, and company standards. This position directs a team of employees and is responsible for employee performance, development, safety, and work schedules.
Coordinate daily department activities with the 1st Shift Shipping Supervisor; confer with Retail, Shipping, Process Superintendent, and 2nd Shift Superintendent to resolve damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
Oversee or perform packing, sealing, labeling, and affixing postage to prepare materials for shipping using hand tools, power tools, postage meters, and other work devices.
Record shipment data, including weight, charges, space availability, damage, and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
Compute amounts such as space availability, shipping, storage, and demurrage charges using calculators, price lists, or other approved tools.
Check operations regularly to ensure processes, schedules, quality, productivity, food safety, and safety standards are maintained.
Investigate, in cooperation with other departments, opportunities for quality improvement, cost reduction, method improvement, yield control, and equipment maintenance; provide recommendations as appropriate.
Handle employee concerns in accordance with established policy and make recommendations regarding hiring, termination, transfer, promotion, training, discipline, and other appropriate changes of status.

Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000

Additional Qualifications
New team members must be able to pass a drug, alcohol and background screening post-offer and prior to the start of their employment. The Immigration Reform and Control Act requires that verification of employment eligibility be documented for all new employees by the end of their third day of work.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel
Work is performed on-site and requires access to the production environment. This position must be able to tolerate the varying heat, wet, and chilled conditions of the plant. Hearing and eye protection are required in production areas, and team members must wear hair and beard nets and any additional personal protective equipment required by task, location, or safety standards. Must have 20/20 corrected vision and color vision. Must be able to climb stairs to view processes. Must be willing to participate in an audit team or safety committee. Must comply with all safety rules and instructions, participate in company training programs, and make every effort to learn, develop, and upgrade skills required for this job classification. May be frequently exposed to wet, cold, hot, or humid conditions in production and shipping areas.
