Preschool Lead Teacher
Little Scholars Journey is a childcare center in the McKinley Park area. Our center serves children ages 15 months to age six. Our program objective is to provide a high quality program that challenges each child to grow academically and socially/emotionally. We aim to cultivate each child’s inner abilities through developmentally appropriate instruction, structured play, and consistent care.
Job description:The early childhood teacher is responsible for the planning and supervision of a group of children. The teacher will use play and other instructional techniques to support children’s development in all domains (cognitive, physical, language, and social emotional).
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and implementing weekly lesson plans.
- Develop schedules and routines to ensure children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime.
- Provide an environment in which children can feel comfortable, relaxed, happy and involved in play, recreation and other activities.
- Defining measurable outcomes to evaluate each child's progress.
- Work with children in groups or one on one, depending on the needs of children and the subject matter.
- Use of positive discipline and guidance techniques.
- Attend professional developments
Qualifications:Must meet IL DCFS Early Childhood Teacher requirements, including at least 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university with 6 semester hours in courses relating directly to childcare development from birth to age 6.
