About the Opportunity
West Bell Dental Care is seeking an experienced, organized, and proactive Lead Dental Assistant / Clinical Team Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our clinical department.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced dental assistant who is ready to take the next step into leadership. We are a growing, fast-paced dental practice with multiple providers, and we are looking for someone who can help create consistency, accountability, efficiency, and a positive team environment.
This is not a position that is permanently assigned to one doctor. The Lead Dental Assistant will oversee and support the clinical team as a whole, monitor daily clinical flow, train and develop team members, and step in chairside when additional support is needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support, and provide daily direction to the dental assistant team
- Coordinate daily assistant assignments and ensure appropriate provider coverage
- Monitor clinical flow throughout the day and proactively address bottlenecks
- Ensure operatories are properly stocked, organized, clean, and ready for patient care
- Oversee sterilization processes and infection-control standards
- Help ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and established office protocols
- Train and onboard new clinical team members
- Conduct skills training and competency check-offs
- Reinforce clinical protocols, documentation standards, and office expectations
- Provide coaching and accountability when standards are not being met
- Monitor opening, closing, and daily clinical checklists
- Oversee clinical inventory and help maintain appropriate supply levels
- Coordinate lunch, break, PTO, and call-out coverage with management
- Assist with maintaining efficient room turnover and provider productivity
- Cross-train team members to support multiple providers
- Communicate clinical concerns, staffing needs, and operational opportunities to management
- Assist chairside when necessary to support patient care and clinical flow
- Help create a professional, collaborative, and solutions-focused clinical culture
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate is someone who doesn't wait to be told what needs to be done. You should naturally notice problems, take ownership, communicate effectively, and follow through.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3–5 years of dental assisting experience preferred
- Previous lead, supervisory, or training experience strongly preferred
- Arizona dental radiography certification required
- Strong knowledge of general dentistry procedures and clinical workflows
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to coach and hold team members accountable professionally
- Comfortable working with multiple doctors and different provider preferences
- Ability to prioritize and make decisions in a busy clinical environment
- Dependable, punctual, and consistent attendance
- Positive and professional approach to leadership
- Willingness to step in wherever needed to support the team and our patients
Additional certifications are highly valued, including:
- EFDA
- Coronal polishing
- Pit and fissure sealants
- Other Arizona-approved expanded-function credentials
