Bridge Brothers is seeking a Sandblaster / Abrasive Blaster to prepare structural steel bridge components for protective coatings.
This role is responsible for cleaning and preparing steel surfaces through abrasive blasting to ensure coatings properly adhere and meet quality specifications.
- Perform abrasive blasting on structural steel using approved blasting equipment
- Prepare steel surfaces for painting and protective coatings
- Remove rust, mill scale, old coatings, weld spatter, and surface contaminants
- Inspect blasted surfaces for proper cleanliness and surface profile
- Operate and maintain blasting equipment
- Move materials throughout the shop using overhead cranes or forklifts when needed
- Follow project specifications and quality standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all PPE and respiratory safety requirements
- Experience with abrasive blasting, sandblasting, or industrial surface preparation preferred
- Experience in structural steel, fabrication, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to work safely in a team-oriented manufacturing environment
- Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus
- Knowledge of SSPC surface preparation standards is a plus
