Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified or Registered Veterinary Technician with a positive attitude to join our small animal practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and handling, with experience in various veterinary practices. This role is essential in providing high-quality care to our patients, assisting veterinarians in clinical procedures, and ensuring the overall well-being of animals in our facility.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Perform routine laboratory tests; obtain and analyze stool, blood, and other samples.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments at the discretion of the veterinarian.
- Provide nursing care to animals recovering from surgery or illness.
- Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and procedures.
- Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following proper safety procedures.
- Clean and straighten exam rooms, treatment, and lab areas; restock with supplies. Assist other team members to keep the public areas of the practice clean; clean and maintain all medical equipment.
- Demonstrate warmth, courtesy, and professionalism in all interactions with clients; exercise compassion and care in all interactions with patients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including equipment sterilization using aseptic techniques.
- Monitor vital signs and behavior of animals under care.
- Support kennel operations, including feeding, grooming, and exercising animals.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Previous veterinary technician experience is preferred
- State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in the state of Indiana
- Ability to lift patients and equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients and equipment over 25 pounds with assistance
- Basic computer skills, familiarity with Windows, MS Office, Chrome, etc.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices.
- Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures related to animal dental care.
- Experience with animal catheterization, restraint techniques, and critical care is highly desirable.
- Laboratory experience for conducting tests such as blood work or urinalysis is beneficial.
- Strong skills in dog and cat handling, training, grooming, and overall pet care are essential.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with team to ensure patient safety and educate pet owners on health issues and treatments.
- Ability to work well in a team environment while demonstrating patience and compassion for animals.

Benefits offered may vary depending on full or part time employment status according to company policy. All new hires follow a 90 day probationary phase training program.
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
