Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese-inspired dishes with precision and artistry.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene throughout all preparation processes.
- Develop innovative sushi recipes and presentation techniques that enhance guest satisfaction.
- Manage ingredient inventory, ensuring freshness and proper storage of seafood and other perishable items.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to plan menus that highlight seasonal ingredients and creative concepts.
- Train junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques, knife skills, and presentation standards.
- Ensure consistent quality control by monitoring portion sizes, presentation, and flavor profiles.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Sushi Chef or in a similar high-volume Japanese cuisine setting.
- Extensive knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, including rolling, slicing, and plating.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
- Experience developing curriculum or training programs related to culinary arts or sushi making is a plus.
- Background in culinary arts with specialization in Japanese cuisine or creative arts instruction preferred.
- Familiarity with working with diverse ingredients such as seafood, rice, seaweed, and vegetables.
- Prior experience managing kitchen inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness standards.
