Job Summary
Join our dynamic retail team as a Retail Counter Sales Associate at Vermont Tire & Service, a 42-year-old locally owned company. This position plays a vital role in ensuring a positive customer experience and supporting the overall success of the business. This sales position is hourly with commission.
Responsibilities
- Greet all customers promptly, courteously, and professionally upon arrival.
- Assess customer needs by asking qualifying questions such as driving habits, vehicle type, budget, and tire or service preferences.
- Listen actively to ensure full understanding of customer concerns and provide knowledgeable guidance.
- Maintain a friendly, helpful demeanor at all times to promote repeat business and customer satisfaction.
- Provide accurate and honest recommendations based on company guidelines, manufacturer recommendations, and the customer’s needs.
- Ensure all recommendations align with safety standards and company policies.
- Create accurate and complete quotes and work orders for customer approval.
- Work cooperatively with other sales staff, technicians, and management to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Represent the company with professionalism and integrity in all customer and vendor interactions.
- Support management with additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED
- Strong customer service and sales orientation (friendly, helpful, able to listen and recommend products/services)
- Good communication — verbal and written
- Basic math skills and comfort with POS / catalog / computer systems
- Physical capability: standing/walking long periods, lifting/moving tires or parts (often 50–60 lb), sometimes stocking, retrieving merchandise
- Flexibility with schedule — including busy periods, seasonal 6-day workweeks
- Valid driver’s license (depending on store)
- Interest or willingness to learn about automotive products / parts / tires — prior automotive or retail parts experience is a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
