Hodge Foundry specializes in highly engineered complex Grey and Ductile Iron castings ranging from 60,000 to 200,000 pounds. Hodge Foundry continues to supply castings for the global markets of mining, power generation, gas compression, heavy industrial equipment, and infrastructure.

Purpose: Supply cores to the molding department for use in preparing molds. This includes setting up the core boxes, venting & rodding them, ramming them and finally shaking out the core boxes and finishing cores.
Description: Place core patterns in core boxes. Place venting materials and reinforcing rods and wires in proper positions. Ram and strike off core boxes using air set mixer or red sand (on bench cores). Shake out core boxes. Finish cores by smoothing and patching and applying core wash. Palletize for transporting to mold area. Place identification numbers or marks on cores. Performs duties to work instructions and quality requirements.
Eligibility Requirement: Journeyman status is acquired by completing a four-year apprenticeship program at the foundry or by having four years of prior experience in a similar foundry environment. Must be able to read, write and follow verbal and written information accurately. Must have mechanical, spatial and reasoning skills and manual dexterity.
Essential Duties: Coremaker transports and places core boxes on roller conveyor for positioning at workstation. He or she assembles core patterns in core box, pastes and bolts them together, rams and strikes off sand. After mold sets, coremaker shakes out and transports core to finishing area. He or she patches and smooths by sanding and then painting the finished core with wash. Place identification numbers or marks on cores.
Additional Non-Essential Duties: Keep area clean and orderly. Keep core boxes and patterns together in an orderly fashion. Obtain and transport core washes. Ability to operate forklift to move pallets of cores or material is preferrable.
Required On the Job Training and Related Instruction:Coremaker apprentices are required to complete 8000 hours of on the job training over a four-year period and complete required related technical instruction courses to achieve Journeyman Coremaker status.

Pay: $23.35 - $24.83 per hour
