Therapist
Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and clinically skilled Therapist to join our behavioral health and substance abuse treatment team. The Therapist will provide individual, group, and family counseling services while working collaboratively with the treatment team to support clients throughout their recovery journey.
The ideal candidate is passionate about helping individuals overcome substance use and mental health challenges, maintains strong professional boundaries, and is committed to providing high-quality, client-centered care.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and participate in treatment planning.
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy services.
- Facilitate psychoeducational and process groups.
- Develop, update, and maintain individualized treatment plans.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment interventions as appropriate.
- Collaborate with medical providers, case managers, peer support staff, and other members of the treatment team.
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record system.
- Assist with discharge planning and aftercare recommendations.
- Participate in clinical staffing, supervision, and treatment team meetings.
- Provide crisis intervention and support when needed.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, state regulations, accreditation standards, and company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of substance use disorders, mental health disorders, and recovery principles.
- Understanding of evidence-based treatment practices and therapeutic interventions.
- Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish therapeutic rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field required.
- New Jersey licensure preferred, including LAC, LPC, LSW, LCSW, LAMFT, or LMFT.
- Associate-level clinicians working toward independent licensure are encouraged to apply.
- Experience in substance abuse treatment, behavioral health, or co-occurring disorders preferred.
- Knowledge of ASAM criteria preferred.
- CADC, CADC-Intern, or other addiction-specific credentials are a plus but not required.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass required background screening and drug testing.
