We are looking for a retail store team leader for our pet supply store. Outgoing, friendly candidates with strong communication skills who can make customers feel welcome in our store will stand out. Starting hours 29 hours per week.
Note that we are a retail store and not a warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Greet and direct customers
- Provide customers with accurate information. Through training, you will become a subject matter expert on pet products, nutrition, in-store promotions, and other areas of animal care and wellness.
- Inform customers about discounts and special offers
- Use a cash register to ring up sales and occassionaly carry items to customer's vehicle
- Unload vendor shipments (shared task with staff)
- Meet product vendors
- Help with selecting new products for the store
- Stay up-to-date with new products/services
- Come up with creative marketing events and end caps
- Order inventory
- Create staff schedules
- Manage 4 staff members
Requirements
- Must be a dog or cat owner!
- Must enjoy speaking with customers to help them make the appropriate pet food selection.
- Must be enthusiastic about being a responsible pet owner
- Must have a friendly and outgoing personality
- Basic math skills
- Basic computer skills
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Vaccination required
- Must own a car
- Must be willing to occasionally work alone (daytime shift and only when comfortable with the position)
- Either 3+ years working at a pet store at a key-holder level or 1+ years working at a pet store as an assistant manager or manager
- Not a requirement, but would be beneficial if you enjoy posting to social media and would be willing to do so for store products and events
