Production Manager

About the Role
Craters & Freighters is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead day-to-day shop operations and oversee our production team. This role is responsible for scheduling workflow, managing staff, ensuring safety and quality standards, and delivering projects on time while maintaining excellent customer service and profitability.
We are looking for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can motivate a team, and effectively manage shifting priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and support the production team
- Plan and manage daily production schedules to meet deadlines
- Ensure all jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards
- Coordinate staffing, time-off requests, and overtime scheduling
- Maintain production records, job accuracy, and delivery timelines
- Communicate with ownership, sales staff, and customers regarding schedules and production updates
- Oversee equipment maintenance, inventory, and material purchasing
- Enforce OSHA safety standards and maintain a safe work environment
- Assist with hiring, training, performance reviews, and team development
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training preferred
- 3+ years of supervisory or production management experience
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Computer proficiency, including spreadsheets and production tracking
- Strong math and measurement skills
- Ability to interpret written instructions for machine setup and maintenance
- Experience in woodworking, fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial production preferred
- Strong knowledge of crate production, cutting, fabrication, assembly, packing, and securing preferred
- Ability to perform production tasks when needed and lead by example
Certifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain IATA, IMDG, or DOT Hazmat Certification
- Ability to learn and document MILSPEC shipping processes
- Ability to understand and implement customer-specific shipping or packaging specifications
Working Conditions
- Standing for extended periods (8+ hours per day)
- Frequent lifting of up to 75 lbs
- Regular exposure to sawdust, fumes, noise, and shop equipment
- Work around machinery and company vehicles in an active production environment
- Fast-paced setting with changing schedules, shifting priorities, and tight deadlines

Pay: $40,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
