The recent merger by the City of Sanford will significantly expand our reach and influence in the industry. The Inventory Technician will work with City of Sanford, Pittsboro, Siler City, and Chatham County customers to perform the following duties:
Ordering, receiving, storing and issuing materials, parts and supplies; maintaining and controlling inventory items; maintaining records and files; preparing reports.

Oversees the ordering, receiving, issuing and storing of parts; maintains inventory; verifies quantity and quality of items received against invoices and reports discrepancies.

Prepares reports; maintains records and files.

Enters data into inventory control program.

Manages the budget for purchasing parts; approves invoices.

Loads, unloads, unpacks, and stores items in the appropriate location.

Enforces warehouse rules and procedures.

Performs clerical duties for warehouse operations and maintenance.

Fills in for office support staff as needed.

Meets safety requirements.

Performs related tasks as required.

Thorough knowledge of modern warehouse and inventory practices; general knowledge of City policies and procedures; thorough knowledge in interpreting a variety of manuals; thorough knowledge of applicable OSHA, NSF/ANSI guidelines; thorough knowledge in preparing reports and other documents; thorough knowledge in the use of standard office equipment and associated software; general knowledge in the use of the equipment required for the position; comprehensive knowledge in the use of FASTER software; thorough knowledge in the use of various software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, Munis, Win Control, Teletrol, etc.); thorough knowledge in the use of the Internet to conduct research; ability to make arithmetic computations; ability to understand and apply governmental accounting practices in maintenance of financial records; ability to solve problems independently; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college with major coursework in business administration, or related field, and minimal experience in industrial maintenance and the procurement, issuance and inventory of materials, parts and supplies. Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license upon hire. Must meet and maintain all certification, license and training requirements for position.
