A top refining operation is seeking a senior-level Electrical Engineering Manager to lead the safe, reliable performance of its site-wide electrical infrastructure.
The successful candidate will serve as the site’s primary technical authority for electrical systems and lead a 10+ person team supporting operations, maintenance, inspections, reliability programs, and turnarounds.
The scope covers power distribution across the entire complex—from the switchyard through substations, transformers, switchgear, protective systems, and motor connections. The role also supports utility coordination, electrical distribution modeling, high-voltage switching, cogeneration interfaces, and long-term infrastructure planning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and develop an 10+ person electrical engineering team
- Serve as the final technical authority for complex electrical issues
- Oversee high- and medium-voltage distribution systems across the site
- Lead electrical safety practices and high-voltage switching protocols
- Direct equipment inspections, condition monitoring, and reliability strategies
- Maintain the site’s electrical distribution model and system documentation
- Establish risk-based maintenance and equipment-replacement priorities
- Support turnarounds, unplanned outages, major repairs, and critical operating events
- Provide technical assurance for infrastructure upgrades and capital projects
- Coordinate with utilities, power providers, contractors, vendors, and external specialists
- Manage departmental, infrastructure, and project-related budgets
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, and site leadership
Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required
- 10+ years of electrical engineering experience
- 3+ years of leadership experience
- Refinery, petrochemical experience required
- Deep knowledge of industrial power distribution, substations, transformers, switchgear, protection, and large motor loads
- Experience leading engineers in a run-and-maintain environment
- Strong troubleshooting, risk-assessment, and technical decision-making capabilities
- Experience supporting major turnarounds and capital improvements
- PE license preferred but not required
Pay: $185,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
