Job Overview
The Dishwasher plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and overall efficiency of kitchen operations. Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all kitchen wares, utensils, and equipment, this team member ensures that the kitchen and dish areas remain organized, safe, and in compliance with all sanitation and safety standards. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to function in a fast-paced environment are essential to success in this position.
This role supports the culinary team and contributes directly to the quality and consistency of our food and service by upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
General Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain ware-washing equipment including dish machines, pot sinks, and glass washer

Clean, sanitize, and properly store all dishes, cookware, glassware, utensils, and kitchen equipment

Pre-rinse, scrape, and sort all dishware before loading into dish machines, following proper racking procedures to avoid damage

Ensure workstations, floors, drains, and equipment are cleaned and sanitized throughout the shift and at closing

Take out trash, compost, and recycling as needed; ensure waste areas are clean and orderly

Maintain proper chemical levels and ensure equipment is stocked with detergents and sanitizers

Assist culinary team with prep, kitchen setup, and breakdown when required

Store and organize deliveries, including dry goods, produce, and refrigerated items, as directed

Follow all health and safety regulations including HACCP, OSHA, and local sanitation guidelines

Communicate any maintenance needs or safety concerns to supervisors promptly

Perform special cleaning projects such as deep cleaning of kitchen equipment or storage areas as assigned

Uphold a team-oriented, can-do attitude, always ready to support colleagues as needed
Management Activities
Discretion / Independent Judgment
This position does not involve significant independent judgment. Tasks are assigned and supervised by the BOH leadership team. However, the Dishwasher is expected to take initiative in maintaining cleanliness standards and alerting management to any operational or safety issues.
Job Qualifications
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience:
-
Previous experience in a high-volume dishwashing or stewarding role strongly preferred

Must be able to speak, read, and understand basic English to follow safety instructions and communicate with coworkers
Physical Requirements (ADA)

Ability to stand for prolonged periods (up to 8+ hours per shift)

Ability to walk long distances within the property

Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching overhead

Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs frequently, and up to 50 lbs occasionally

Manual dexterity and ability to work in a wet, fast-paced environment

Ability to work in both hot and cold conditions, including walk-ins and dish stations
