Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

The Equipment Operator I classification is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker position based on the operation of various types of non-CDL equipment on a routine basis. The skills and knowledge required are of a level and scope to be in support of a journey, trades or crafts person. Some positions will require the performance of other essential and marginal functions depending on the location, assignment or shift. Employees in this class operate vehicles that do not require a Commercial Driver’s License such as trucks, farm tractors, zero and turn mowers. Equipment Operator Is receive training on various pieces of CDL required equipment for future advancement to the Equipment Operator II classification.
One (1) year of experience as a laborer assisting in general trades using hand-tools and maintenance equipment. Requires skill to read slightly complex material such as operator manuals, perform simple arithmetic, complete slightly complex forms and use tools and equipment.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Some positions require the use of departmental vehicles on departmental business. Individuals must be capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Some positions may afford the employee the occasional opportunity to operate equipment requiring a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for training purposes.
