Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, grinding, or removing old paint using hand tools and power tools to ensure optimal adhesion of coatings.
- Apply paints, primers, sealers, and protective coatings with precision using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, or other application methods.
- Read and interpret construction plans, schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine surface specifications and coating requirements.
- Collaborate with construction management teams to coordinate painting schedules with other trades such as drywall installation, flooring, or masonry work.
- Conduct inspections of painted surfaces for quality control, ensuring smooth finishes free of drips or imperfections while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist with surface preparation for specialized applications such as stucco, caulking, glazing, or restoration projects involving heavy equipment operation or fabrication processes.
- Maintain a clean work environment by properly storing materials and disposing of waste according to safety guidelines.
Experience
- Proven experience in industrial painting within construction or manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with construction management processes including estimating costs for painting projects and understanding construction plans.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools (e.g., scrapers, brushes), power tools (e.g., sanders, sprayers), and heavy equipment related to surface preparation.
- Knowledge of building materials installation such as drywall finishing, flooring installation, tile laying, or masonry is a plus.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings including schematics and blueprints for precise application of coatings on various surfaces like concrete forming or roofing structures.
- Experience working on construction sites with a focus on safety standards and inspection procedures.
- Basic electrical experience or plumbing knowledge can be advantageous for integrated project tasks involving building systems.
