Job Title: Dietary Aide
Location: Long-Term Care Nursing Facility
Pay Rate: $12.00 per hour
Job Summary:
The Dietary Aide supports the food service team in providing nutritious, appealing meals to residents in a long-term care setting. This role ensures that meals are prepared, served, and cleaned up in accordance with dietary guidelines, safety standards, and residents’ individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with meal preparation, including portioning and plating food
- Serve meals and beverages to residents in dining areas or rooms
- Follow special dietary requirements and restrictions as directed
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, dining areas, and equipment
- Wash dishes, utensils, and food preparation items
- Stock food supplies and assist with inventory as needed
- Follow all food safety and infection control guidelines
- Provide courteous and respectful service to residents and staff
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous food service experience is a plus, especially in healthcare or senior care
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Strong attention to cleanliness and safety
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds
- Perform repetitive tasks such as bending, reaching, and lifting
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced kitchen and dining setting within a nursing home
- Interaction with elderly residents, including those with special needs
