JOB DESCRIPTION:
Community Buddy/ Wing-mate to support a 22 year old young adult male in various community activities & college courses.
College of Adaptive Arts at the West Valley College Campus: Accompany and support as a wing-mate personal aide in class. When a week with no classes, can be more flexible on day/time.
Exploring areas of interest in the community and activities.
Community exploration, schedule is somewhat flexible.
Other opportunities as new activities are scheduled.
Temporary or Permanent Position: Ideally Permanent, although days/times change each semester with school.
This is a W2 payroll position which requires a background check & live scan.
Clearance typically takes 3-4 weeks to be eligible to work with the client.
This position requires a Valid CA DL, reliable vehicle & clean driving record. As the candidate will be required to drive the client to and from activities.
RATE: $37/hour, and mileage reimbursed at federal rate
ESTIMATE DAY/HOURS:10-20/week
Tuesday: 4-7 PM Kung Fu classes
Wednesday: 9:45 AM – 4:30 PM College Classes
Thursday: 11:15 AM – 4:30 PM College Classes
Flexible Day: 11:30-3pm Ceramics Class
LOCATION: Los Gatos, CA
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate for this position would be neuro-affirming, compassionate, supportive & have behavioral intervention skills and experience. Being very understanding & observant; supportive, communicate, intervening and supporting the client when escalating and assist him with his needs and choices.
Good communication with Parents and client; Will send Google Calendar invites to keep track of times/activities with provider; Group text with client/parent; Texting/calls with parent.
Positive attitude, kindness, and honesty.
Willingness to learn, be flexible & adaptable, be guided and share what works for the family.
Ability to build trust and respect with client and family.
Patience and empathy to understand his perspective.
Pay: $37.00 per hour
