Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intern - Machinist to join our dynamic team. This paid internship offers hands-on experience in precision metalworking, CNC machining, and mechanical fabrication. As an intern, you will support skilled machinists in operating and setting up various machining tools and equipment, gaining valuable industry knowledge and technical skills. Responsibilities
- Assist in setting up and operating manual and CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines, including programming.
- Support manual machining tasks using hand tools, grinders, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measurement instruments.
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate machining of parts.
- Help with machine setup, calibration, and tooling adjustments to meet specifications.
- Conduct quality inspections using measurement tools to verify dimensions and ensure adherence to GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards.
- Participate in lean manufacturing practices by maintaining cleanliness, organization, and efficiency within the machining area.
Requirements
- Basic understanding of mechanical blueprint interpretation and measurement techniques.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with an interest in metal machining, CNC programming, and manufacturing processes.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and interpreting technical data.
- Willingness to learn about CNC quality inspection procedures and measurement for quality control purposes.
- Good communication skills, attention to detail, and safety awareness in a manufacturing environment.
